Tacos in New York

Tacos in New York

Anyone who is allergic to gluten knows that Mexican food can be a girl’s best friend. Fresh ingredients and corn tortillas always make a comforting combination in my book. New York City is filled with options if you’re on the hunt for a good taco, but here are two of my personal favorites.

La Esquina

With several locations in the city, you’re never too far from a fabulous taco or cheesey chicken quesadilla. Either way, you can feel confident knowing your tortilla is made of corn and the ingredients are fresh. A mezcal margarita doesn’t hurt either ;) My go-to order (usually shared with my guy) is guacamole and chips, a chicken quesadilla, a fish taco and a Mexican coke or margarita. The place is usually packed, but it’s worth the wait. Make sure to visit not just the easy going ‘deli’ locations, but the underground speak-easy style downtown spot.

Los Tacos No. 1

These guys always have a long line at their original stall in Chelsea Market, but it moves quickly. The tortillas are hand-made - take a look behind the counter for a peek at the technique! They’ve opened up a second location in Times Square, which officially makes it one of the only things I like in Times Square. Here, I go for a chicken quesadilla on a corn tortilla (which is served open), and a chicken taco with a glass bottle Coke. Try some of the tasty self-serve salsas to spice up your bite.
